PDGA

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) needed a comprehensive digital platform to support its rapidly growing sport. I led the full Drupal build of their website — including all front-end, back-end, and architectural work — during a time when the organization was expanding its membership, media presence, and course database. This project introduced tools and features that became foundational for the PDGA’s online ecosystem.

Creation of the First PDGA Course Directory

One of the most significant components of the build was the first-ever PDGA Course Directory, which allowed players worldwide to:

  • Search thousands of disc golf courses
  • Rate and review courses
  • Upload photos and field notes
  • Submit new course listings
  • Update existing course details

I designed the content model, built the submission workflows, and implemented the user-generated content features that empowered the disc golf community to maintain and expand the directory themselves.

Full CMS Architecture & Membership-Oriented Structure

Beyond the directory, I created the back-end framework for news, media galleries, tournaments, rules, membership content, international resources, and official documentation. Because PDGA publishes a high volume of sport-specific content, the CMS architecture focused on flexibility — making it easy for staff to update standings, share tournament coverage, and publish announcements.

Front-End Implementation for a Highly Active Audience

The front-end work included theming, template development, and UI patterns for everything from event listings to video embeds to sponsor zones. The site needed to serve players, fans, officials, and tournament organizers alike, so clarity and accessibility were key. I implemented responsive, organized layouts that could accommodate dense information without overwhelming users.

A Platform That Supported a Growing Sport

This build delivered PDGA’s first modern digital foundation — one capable of hosting user contributions, global course data, tournament updates, and an active membership community. Many of the features introduced during this project became core expectations for disc golf websites in the years that followed.
